Judge dismisses tax watchdog group's suit over casino projects (The Kansas City Star)

The last legal impediment to casino gambling in Wyandotte County has fallen. Shawnee District Court Judge Franklin R. Theis this week dismissed a lawsuit brought in March by a citizens' tax watchdog group that claimed proposals by three of the four remaining Wyandotte County casino applicants violated a ban on public financing to benefit gambling facilities.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — The Seneca Indian Nation has stopped construction at the site of its planned $333 million casino-hotel complex in Buffalo. Wednesday's announcement comes a day after a federal judge ruled for a second time that casino gambling is not legal on the site.
